Sort of gives panspermia a new impetus, doesn't it?
Seems to me that nothing more complex than a proton has been demonstrated to last forever, and the jury is still out on protons.
Every process seems to have it's end, and the Biblical "ashes to ashes, dust to dust" can be extrapolated to the entire Universe.
So, it will end. Life on Earth will end sooner than much of the rest, but it's pushing a rock uphill to try to keep going forever. (Prediction - Even Dick Clark will die someday.) And Earth will end sooner than much of it.
Life is a particularly transitory affair, both individually and collectively. We may be able to spread some DNA around the local galaxies, and that's about it.
Sort of gives one perspective, doesn't it?
