Space/Science » in reply to Shuttle shortcomings

Previous Post: 82 out of 100 to go for a Columbia Disaster PowerBall Lotto Fund ticket.

Instead of keeping the $80 Million jackpot, the winner keeps $6 Million ( don't be greedy ) and the remainder goes to a Space Trust Fund. After 52 weekends of Lottery, would this help to finance NASA.
Set up NASA as a open research system like the LINUX community has done. Eliminate the top end wolves of the industry ( $2000 per insulation tile that is 5" by 5" ) and get input from researchers to develope the technolgy on their own free time.

Maybe you, Mr Brosz would start the ball rolling.

I like sports ............. but top end athletes are overly paid in salaries. Would the same analogy be used in the Space Industry.

"Depending on the accounting method used, a single shuttle mission now costs on the order of $500 million."

Too many $$$$ in and very little out in what has been accomplished.

Compare the salary of an Astronaut to that of the yearly earnings of a CEO of a large Space Industry company.
Out of balance? The technology is very highend but the costs are not warranted and very inflated.

After thought.
Imagine the freeNASA Operating System or maybe the freeBrosz OS !
