When you've got a spacecraft with a million parts...
...you need an army [thousands] of
technicians to try and ensure safety.
What other alternative is there?
A space craft with 200,000 parts?
A spacecraft with only 100,000 parts?
What parts are going to be left out?
Some redundant safety components?
Where do you draw the line?
Or do you sacrifice the ability
to launch upto 7-8 crew, settling for
a spaceship that can send up only 3
or 4, huh?
And do you sacrifice the ability to launch or retrieve upwards of 20-25 metric tons?
