The saddest thing is when they build wonderful things, i.e., the shuttle fleet and space stations, ISS and something happens, whether it's by an accident or complete complacency causing the hardware to wear off long before the dreams and goals do.
It doesn't matter what percentage of the population is overly taxed, it's how much of that money, where it will go and how it will be used is what matters.
