"I suggest that anyone who cares to: do the test that Nick suggests. I have done it. And I showed Nick the results. Guess what? Whatever its TES spectral response may or may not be (this is an instrument which BTW cannot distinguish between atmospheric and surface carbon)-- VISUALLY, based on (processed) images available, "White Rock" is significantly brighter and lighter than nearly all the light-colored regions of Mars, though not quite as white and bright as new-fallen snow."

My memory may be playing me up here, BRF, but I don't actually recall you sending me images. I did the comparison myself a long time ago when I first read (and was inclined to disbeleive) the spectral-based work. I found to my surprise that the "white" rock was very similar in brightness, and indeed in colour to much of the light tan surface of Mars, outside of those bluish-black dark dusty areas.

I posted such a comparison on one of my websites a long time ago (18 months?), but I think I've taken that page down now.

There is CERTAINLY a huge difference between white rock and the polecaps or thick cloud. This is obvious.

I don't like you constantly using my name as an authority in support of your position, when I have repeatedly stated that I don't support it.

Please stop using my name unless you accurately quote my current position.
