What are you referring to?
<
Nick sez: I don't like you constantly using my name as an authority in support of your position, when I have repeatedly stated that I don't support it.
Please stop using my name unless you accurately quote my current position.
If I have EVER used your name as an authority in support of "my position" -- let alone constantly done so -- please forgive me. My position is that we are deeply ignorant of Mars and that intensive study should never stop.
Unfortunately I have no idea when I might have used your name to support my position....
The fact is, when I refer to you, it is either to offer my support for your insights (as I understand them) and to encourage more, or to state that I don't agree, and yet still encourage you toward more.
I don't know what to do if this upsets you, except hope that you'll get over it eventually.
As for the brightness comparisons, I just did another one (unfortunatly I deleted the previous comparison based on Viking images that had been reworked to show a "butterscotch" surface, from the same image sequence you use in your comparison). This time I used the Malin global mosaic. This mosaic is based on red images only.
You can see the results here (provided my link works): White Rock Comparison
You should be... well.... gratified! ;-)
Cheers, BRFelix
