Someone pointed me at your paper. It's well written, and this is an interesting find, but the brightness temperature differences between those spots and the area around them isn't 20 to 40 degrees. It's about 11 degrees. The maximum pixel of the larger northern warm spot is 253K in the daytime image and the area around the spot averages 242K. In the nighttime, it's 191K vs 180K.
