First clue...when suggesting people take a good look at something provide a URL to it! (http://rasc.larc.nasa.gov/rasc_new/CAPS/CAPS_Concept_Summary.pdf )
I would point out there is a big ass hole in the Lunar Based detention system...I call them LP Comets...which are bigger and therefore nastier than NEO impactors.
Second clue...all the hand waving away of technical difficulties with Moon Bases won't make them go away. BTW no one is hand waving away radiation and other problems at Mars, that EP here mentions every post...he also claims we Martians are obsessed...8-)
If you have equipment and/or men on the Moon over time you have similar radiation issue and/or dust problems to Mars and even as remote as it might seem...possible biological contamination.
EP wrote: Learn to take care of the planet you already have before you start on another one.
So does this mean you want us to clean up the environment before looking for NEO and LP Comets? And shouldn't we learn enough about them so we can actually be successful with some form of intervention.
