I didn't see anything about Nigeria in your post?
But you're right, religious fanaticism is dangerous; and you see it in Israel too, unfortunately.
I dream of a world without any religion, no Mormons, Catholics, Protestants, Christian scientists, Muslims...any religion that only diverts people from their own responsabilities. We need a few moral principles such as "Don't do unto others what you don't want others to do unto you", we need a good grasp of what life and death are, accept the fact that we return back , at death, to a state we were before birth. We also need to understand how insignificant we are (and definitely not "sacred creatures" made by a god).
Very very hard to get to.
But with all the killings going on "In the name god", we might finally get to that point.
