We must do in the mideast what was done in Germany and Japan after WWII.
We waged peace as effectively as we waged war.
Between MacArthur and the Marshall Plan, we changed the societies of those countries, teaching them to respect their citizens, respect peace, and to accept civilian, democratic governments.
We purged them of their extremist leaders.
In a real sense, we destroyed their old cultures and allowed a new, peace loving culture to emerge.
We must not only destroy the nations that allow these pathological horrors to exist, we must transfrom these nations and that region into something new.
We must wage and win the war, and equally important, we must wage and win the peace.
