We aren't just going after Bin Laden. It's absolutely necessary to send a chilling message to any other governments thinking about giving free room and board, equipment, assistance to Bin Laden and other terrorists like him.

Advantages we have over the 1980's Soviet Army:

1) far better equipment

2) far higher morale

3) many Afgans as allies, the ones who hate the Taliban

4) Taliban is not nearly as well equiped as the enemies of the Soviets we helped arm

But make no mistake, I still realize many US soldiers could be killed in suicide attacks and guerilla warfare. As soon as we overthrow the Taliban, we should immediately start talking to the UN about peacekeeping operations and creating a new government. Some people out there seem to like the idea of 'nation-building'; so here's a golden opportunity to get to do it. We'll see who volunteers to help out.
