Chomsky claims that Osama Bin Laden's message of hatred and aggression against the US (and the rest of evil West of course) has appeal and resonates through Muslim countries in the Middle East because of the presence of the US in Saudia Arabia and the support of the US towards repressive regimes, such as the Saudies.

But it's a phony argument - if we're judging governments and organizations in the region by their level of repression and brutality, who could possibly be more extreme than the Taliban and OBL's Al-Queda? How could they be fighting evil when they are more evil than those they claim to be fighting??

Plus, US troops entered Saudia Arabia to defend it from attack from Saddam Hussein in 1990, not as some kind of encroachment on Islamic holy lands.

Chomsky makes no sense here.
