Panicked Americans are trying to snap up vast quantities of antibiotics, primarily Cipro, to ward off anthrax. No doubt they are going to be popping these things like Life Savers.

(There are other antibiotics which also work on anthrax. Cipro just happens to be "hip" right now)

As anyone with even a small amount of medical knowledge knows, antibiotics are best used sparingly, and according to a strict regimen, to avoid generating resistant strains of bacteria.

I'm afraid the result of this panic is going to be an invasion of antibiotic-resistant "Superbugs" of many types, never mind anthrax.

In addition, many people are going to suffer from side effects of the medicine. Of course, they will immediately hire a lawyer to blame the manufacturer.
