Insufficient

Anyone who would leak information about an operation, especially one that's underway as was the case last Friday, is putting peoples' lives at risk. Furthermore, that raid was highly classified, probably at the Top Secret or higher level.

Simply put, leaking classified information is a violation of federal law. Not only should the person lose his/her security clearance, he/she should be prosecuted. If the leaker is in the military, make sure the court marshall panel isn't made up of Washington Beltway Weenies - put some operations folks on that board. Let the leaker spend some hard time in Leavenworth, say 20 years with loss of all pay and allowances, dishonorable discharge, the whole package.

If the leaker is a civilian, you'll have to prosecute in federal court. Go for it. No plea bargins, either. Burn 'em.

I would think it shouldn't be too difficult to restrict further leaks. There shouldn't have been too many people in DC who knew when the operation was going to take place. Bring them all into a room and let a bunch of Rangers/Green Berets/SEALs lay down the law to them - any future leak will be dealt with very harshly. The leaker had better hope the law finds him out before the Rangers do, otherwise, there might not be much left to prosecute.

I can't emphasize this strongly enough - there was absolutely no excuse for someone to blab about that raid while it was underway. The first any of us should've heard about it was at a post-raid briefing after everyone had left the hostile area (if then). CNN is seen around the world.
