<A little historic background on Afghanistan...
"The Afghan host is kind and courteous and is likely to follow and rob you after you leave." -1955 Travelguide
"Afghani tribesmen manufacture their own rifles and their favorite sport is shooting at passing caravans from a safe distance with their home-made rifles and looting them." - 1931 National Geographic
"The Afghani does not like to set up shop and engage in commerce - but prefers non-Moslems to pursue such dull professions."
"Afghanistan was conquered in the 7th century by Moslems and you can travel there to this day and see how life was lived a thousand years ago."
True, these words were written, and true there are and have been thieves and highwaymen the globe-over.
While the liberals on this board and throughout the US may love to ascribe noble intentions and intellectual persecution upon these folks - it is the sad truth that these folks are as primitive as any aborigine - perhaps more so - since commerce is beyond them.
Not trying to paint a pretty picture here myself, but our own absent Slick is of aboriginal descent -- as am I. Aborigine does not mean backward or savage. Aborigine means native, indigenous, or original -- and if you go back far enough, we still don’t know where we really came from.
Well, that's not entirely true...
the only thing they have learned to sell is opium.
What wonderful progress!
I’ll tell you something about those “hand made” guns. They take the word “smith” and transform it into “artisan”. Hand a true gun smith in Afghanistan an M16, give him about two weeks, and he’ll hand you 2 M16 assault rifles. Hand him a bullet, and you’ll receive a box of ammo (5000 rounds) in the same time frame.
In reality, anybody could do the same thing -- given a genuine need for the ability. The next bit is fine -- up to:
However, very few of these folks serve the military, have served or ever will serve.
Where did this come from? I served proudly with several Muslims in uniform, and not all of them from U.S. soil. And if you’re commenting on Muslims in general serving in a military of their own choosing, I think there are a few serving with the Taliban, which is a recognized government.
I can't help but think of the female Caucasian anti-apartheid exchange student who was torn limb from limb in South Africa by the same savages she was trying to assist
How many articles and letters did she write - how many sit-ins and protests did she attend...only in the end to be killed by her own ignorance?
I can't help but see many of these anti-America leftist, liberals being stoned to death or shot, execution style, by the same 'persecuted folks' they have such sympathy for.
And if you parachuted them down there - they would be killed most assuredly.
Killed by their own ignorance.
Some would say it is poetic justice. I think it is just karmic balancing out so that they learn the error of their ways the next time around... .
Nasty, but shit happens.
Sometimes...the unruly or uneducated child must be burned to have a healthy respect for fire.
Hang ‘em all. That’ll teach ‘em.
Trouble is, once you’ve hung them, the lesson seems wasted. I get your drift, though. The child is the group, and the lost lives are learning-wounds for the group.
The terrorist savages have done us a favor - they have helped spur a looking in on our immigration policies, our complacency and given birth to policies which will hopefully keep America great.
Back to the group-thing, except that now the group is us, and I agree.
