Re: So have I, Larry . . .

Some snake-eaters go in as snake-eater, while others arrive from many Mil-sources, one of which is Infantry, but also tech fields such as electronics, aviation, and even (of all things) cartography. Aside from overall aptitude, endurance fortitude, and a sharp eye for the Canadian bull, it is also required that the SF-dude/dudette be more than proficient in at least 2 fields of combat necessity, an ability that can, depending upon course length, take more than a couple years to achieve.

They don't have to like how it really sucks, but an uncaring acceptance of the environment will put you over the top every time (been there, done that -- but you knew that).

Personally, I really enjoyed Infantry. Giving it up for Signal was not an easy choice, but i have a knee that kept telling me I really better. It was time to get a desk job.

And if the bulls are on you, and it really, really sucks out there, you gotta keep your wits about you, and just do it. The only way it could possibly suck for the rest of your life is if you're going to die doing it -- and you know you just won't stand for anything like that.

Cheers,
Dan
