Sounds almost too good to be true
By all accounts, the Northern Alliance appears to have suddenly taken Mazar-e-Sharif. But how could it have happened so quickly? Just yesterday we heard that they were making some progress but still 10 km away?
It sure sounds to me like somebody important on the Taliban side was turned, and provided the NA with some much needed assistance. (It wouldn't surprise me one bit if some Taliban warlord just got a big fat cash payment! hey, that's the Afghan tradition, jihad or not!)
