And to confirm - "Northern Alliance forces led by ethnic Uzbek warlord General Abdul Rashid Dostum entered the ancient city that is the foundation of Taliban power in northern Afghanistan from the southeast at 6:00 p.m. (8:30 a.m. EST), he said.

``We have taken Mazar-i-Sharif. The Taliban troops have fled. The only Taliban left behind are the prisoners we have taken. We have full control of the town. The airport is in our hands, too,'' Dostum said in an interview with CNN Turk."
