The mind of Fisk has always been bedazzled with spectacles of combat, and he roots and roots for any and all atrocities -- real or otherwise -- which he will dutifully report, and always with his indignant tongue-clucking as he strolls to the bank with that nifty royalty cheque.
He seems to go on and on about how ‘we’, as Americans, are now the war criminals -- actually from the title of the article, all the way to the last line of the text -- but nowhere in the article does he state he, too, is an American -- which he is not.
By the way -- are you? I don’t think so.
It’s beside the point -- or perhaps actually is your point -- but I digress.
“We are the war criminals now”
From the title on, however, it’s just pure anti-American crap.
Fisk, btw, is anti-anynation that happens to cross his sights. Be grateful he’s not in Australia right now -- but who knows what the future will bring?
Relax. At the moment, the big ol’, bossy United States of America is his prime target. After all, America seems to have it in its head to attack and destroy the birthplace of civilization.
The birthplace of civilization.
That’s why Fisk is in the Middle East, did you know that? He’s taken by the place. He loves it. He is angered by anyone who would harm the land and its people. I can understand that, but sometimes there is a price to pay -- and sometimes the price is high.
If his wonderful birthplace of civilization insists upon attacking the world at large and indiscriminately killing any and all who do not bow low to the supposed ‘Word of Allah’, then we shall be uncivilized with them and bring them to heel. Previous targets for the intrepid Mr. Fisk included Israel, Palestine, Lebanon, Iraq, Iran, and -- dare I say it -- Osama bin Laden, al-Qaida, and the Taliban of Afghanistan, all stewed together.
To sum up Fisk and his approach to journalism is to say that so long as the United States stands, nobody on this bloody planet has the slightest control over their own, personal actions. It’s all, all, all our fault. For him, it’s really that simple. For me, it’s all whining crap.
“The BBC was yesterday broadcasting an American officer talking about the dangers of ‘collateral damage’ -- without the slightest hint of the immorality of this phrase.”

Stating a warning that innocents may, can, and most assuredly will die in war -- a proven fact of combat since Cain departed Adam and Eve under the All Mighty’s disappointed glare -- is not immoral. Ignoring collateral damage because it’s simply an expected, acceptable loss, however, is. The militaries hate collateral damage, but Fisk keeps missing a single, very pointed fact of war. It’s run by human beings, many of whom are no more espoused to killing people than, in all his great wisdom, appears to be.
Today, Fisk just happens to hate America.
So, how do you take his accusations, Greg -- or was this just another hit-n-run bash-the-Americans post?
Seriously starting to wonder about you, Greg,
Dan
