The desperation is really showing now...

I can't think of anything much to add to the analysis that SDAI gave. However, it is instructive to go back over the past two months and look at the rest of Fisk's output (do a search on the site for "Robert Fisk.")

His output is basically word for word the usual leftist party line, with the usual crap on the immorality of military action, the "certain quagmire" we are headed into, etc. etc. etc. We've heard it all before, both in this war and in the Gulf War.

This near-victory in Afghanistan is killing these Leftist media types, who had been drooling in anticipation over the expected body bags, mass civilian deaths, and most especially, the humiliating defeat of the hated Americans.

So now the press is going to reach for whatever solace they can find, and right now they're hoping to pin a Mai Lai on the U.S. Military*. Look for more stuff like this article as our victory becomes even more certain.

I wish I could show here all the material I have seen over the past weeks in magazines, journals, and on the internet. Despite their screams of protest, the Left is, right now, drowning in American success and patriotism. If the economy turns around decisively, and especially if Bush gets the credit, many of them are going to drop the rest of the way off the deep end and into the psychosis that is always lurking at the edges for them.

Should be amusing.

*So desperate is the media for something like this that a while back they fell hook, line and sinker for the false rumor on the Viet Nam nerve gas attack.
