We are proving in Afghanistan that the only way to destroy terrorism is to tear it out down to the last root and branch.

There is a large contingent of Palestinians who will accept NOTHING except the utter destruction of Israel. There will be no peace unless something is done with them--on that I am forced to agree with Rush.

Hopefully, it may be possible for other Palestinians to take out the extremists, rather than the Israelis, maybe even at the instructions of the somewhat inconsistent Arafat. If this drastic solution is seen as internal to the Palestinians, then total war may be avoided.

If the extremists outnumber the Palestinians who are moderate, which may be true considering the educational efforts made by Palestinians to breed more extremists, then we are in trouble.

A hard and frightening fact is that the utter obliteration of your enemy, up to and including genocide, always works. Our civilization prevents us from doing this, thank God, and the deterrence of our military has prevented--so far--others from doing it to us.

But it always works.
