And sometimes...

The problems are just too big for any individual or collection of individuals to handle. There have always been the poor and the disenfranchised. Our Founding Fathers recognized this unhappy state of affairs when they drafted the promulgating documents of the nascent nation outlining the responsibilities of what would come to be known as the federal government..."to provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare..."

The United States is a great country because we have fulfilled the vision of the Founding Fathers. We are a strong nation militarily AND we care for our less-fortunate citizens. The nation's obligation to help the disadvantaged is equal measures compassion and pragmatism. It is only unhappy citizens who are likely to revolt.
