Let me try to explain a bit...

Read this passage again Dennis, and then apply a timeline to the events to see what really is going on:

'The BBC reported "The attack on the World Trade Center in 1993 did not shake the State Department's faith in the Saudis, nor did the attack on American barracks at Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia three years later, in which 19 Americans died. FBI agents began to feel their investigation was being obstructed."

Bush concerns for Saudi sensibilities fatally compromised our national security. According to a Minneapolis-St. Paul Star Tribune story, the Pan Am International Flight Academy reported suspicious behavior to the FBI and FAA. Some Arab nationals were lying about their background, and trying to learn to fly 747s.

According to this report, published December 21, 2001- "Besides alerting the FBI about [Zacarias] Moussaoui, the school's Phoenix office called the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) early this year about another student -- Hani Hanjour, who was believed to be the pilot of the plane that flew into the Pentagon on Sept. 11." But the Bush administration did nothing.'

Here's a little refresher:

1991
Saudi Arabia allows us to station forces in the Country to wage war against Iraq and remove Iraqi forces from Kuwait.

November 1992
Bill Clinton elected President

1993
1st WTC Bombing by Islamic fundamentalists.

1996
Suicide attack on US forces/Barracks in Saudi Arabia

November 2000
George Bush Elected President.

Why on earth did President Clinton not break these horribly corrupt Saudi ties if he felt the Royal family was somehow supportive of two attacks on US interests - during HIS TWO terms in office?

Why?

Surely Clinton did not have all these business ties to the Saudi family! Noble Bill Clinton was no Saudi whipping dog right?

Is it possible he did not feel the Royal family were conspiring against the US? Could all those wonderful folks, like Hillary, Stephanopoulos, Morris, Gore, etc...all have been blinded to Saudi treachery?

And if FBI agents felt their investigation was being obstructed - these would be investigations going on while the Cllinton Administration was in full power.

Surely you do not believe that Bush, who was yet to be elected Texas Governor, could thwart the FBI investigators...all the way from Texas.

And how did Bush Sr. exert the magical thwarting influence? When he parachuted from a plane on his birthday - was that a code to let any few employees left from his administration still in DC - rise up and thwart the FBI?

No, if the FBI felt thwarted it was only because Clinton was amazingly corrupt - that his very presence in the White House hindered ALL justice department investigations.

A guilty, guilty, man FEARS all the agencies devoted to law and order. His willing pawn Janet Reno, was obstructing as many investigations as she could - on a daily basis.

Bush-bashing is simply the last resort of the left - because this President so outshines their own 'Hero' that they are desperately seeking to find any convoluted conspiracy and try to blame him for all the worlds problems.

However, if one follows the details of these things - none of it holds water.

The Saudis, for a Muslim state, have been very accomodating to the US interests despite our clear preferential treatment of Israel since the 1970's.

Just like Pakistan - Saudi Arabia will be home to Muslim fundamentalist groups and the fact that the terrorists were Saudis is evidence that of Muslim nations Saudi Arabia is one of the wealthier ones - and where fanatics have more wherewithal to pursue their visions of Jihad.

Bin Laden resented the US forces present in Saudi Arabia - which puts him at opposition with the Royal Family who believe it is in their best interests to allow a US presence.

Extremists can only see through cockeyed views. The Saudi government does not just see the US as 'an Israel puppet' but sees the many components and lobbying forces within the US government.

The left needs a scapegoat and the terrorists are somehow innocent. They are simply the product of the 'Bush Family evil, world dominating conspirators.'

The fact that US individuals hold interest in Saudi companies is no mystery. The nation is home to one of the largest Oil reserves in the world. The Bush family, having been in the oil industry - would be very conspicuous if some of their holdings did not link to Saudi firms!!!!!

In your view...are all US holders of Saudi companies stock 'selling out the USA' to terrorists?

Should we simply allow other nations to hold their stock - giving the US even LESS clout in these nations affairs?

No, it is our global holdings which keep all these various countries from become isolated from the US.

If it were not for economic ties, Saudi Arabia could easily slip into the hands of fundamentalists and become another Iran (circa 1979).

We tried to educate and modernize the middle east after WWII. Our citizens rightly invested in oil companies, seeing how the modern nation was becoming motor-driven.

Persia/Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and these other smaller nations have profited greatly by our economic ties.

The only barrier has been these fundamentalist/extremists who are almost universally less educated/wordly/intelligent than their capitalistic fellow citizens.

Yes, the changing political alliances in this region come fast and furious - but thats the very nature of this volatile region.

One has to see the BIG picture...
