Yo! Howdy Buck!

I was just posting elsewhere on how I could pry you out of your hole. Nice to have you in town! ;)

I quoted the letter because I thought it made the point better than I could that the basic amorality of Bill Clinton was an issue much larger and broader than any specific legal charges made at the time. I thought it was a pretty good letter from an average guy, and I apparently overlooked the "pathetic flaws" that you noticed.

I see you completely passed over my comments on the concept of integrity, which I thought was critical to my criticism of Clinton, and brought up the old saw that he was not convicted in the impeachment proceedings. So? The argument that the man was a saint because nobody managed to convict him in a court of law doesn't stand up very well. Character is more than a clean slate at the police station. Washington is full of thugs on both sides of the aisle whose hands are dirty, to say the least, but they have somehow managed to stay clear of legal hassles. So are some corporate offices, and lots of other places.

If the Democrats weren't trying to hammer Bush into a bloody pulp with the Enron bankruptcy, dragging every possible witness before Congress, it's entirely likely the sleazy heads of that corporation would have probably slipped under the wire as well, going down on record as just one more set of poor, innocent CEOs who happened to be in charge when they ran afoul of some bad luck.
