Right-wing, unfettered capitalism can run amuck. And does. And buys influence in the government. Republican governments, Democratic governments, all of them.
For Gawd's sake, not every screw-up in the world is the result of some liberal political agenda. (What a world-view - has to be uncomfortable in it's sense of persecution, but secure in it's simplicity!!)
In Enron's case, the more right they moved, the more screwed up it got.
As I said before, when the laws can be used to plunder, the plunders will make the laws. It's not a conservative-liberal thing, it's a people thing.
