Thanks matt, that clarified a few things for me. I wonder why the SEC seems to have avoided some of the blame in the media?

One thing I'm not clear on is the issue of final responsibility. It looks like the current procedures rely on the honor system, "simply not enough SEC inspectors". Is it actually up to the accounting firms to report wrongdoing to the SEC. Isn't there some sort of client-privilege there?

I don't know much about this subject but do find it interesting.

Any thoughts as to a final outcome?
