Ya think I made that up?

A while back after the reasoned suggestion by a rational being that the Democrats seemed to be better friends of the effort to get past NEO, part of that was to point out that it was a relatively liberal Democrat who committed the US to going to the Moon.

The responses were dramatic, and to my way of thinking not understandable. Folks were saying that Eisenhower was the initiator of that program, that the planning was well under way by the time Kennedy took office, and that he just rode the wave.

Now, granted there had been some planning, and that rocket development was rapid under Eisenhower, etc. And, to my way of thinking going to the Moon became national policy only as Kennedy's response to the US world image getting pretty badly beat up.

And, so help me, there are knee-jerkers out there, and it isn't only knees if you get my drift, who try to "say it ain't so".
