President Bush, officials in the administration, and the Pentagon have repeatedly stated the objectives in the War on Terrorism. Don't know why Bryd or Dashcle weren't paying attention...

Beyond actions taken on the home front, in terms of foreign policy the objectives are:

1. Shut down terrorist camps

2. Disrupt terrorist plans

3. Bring terrorists to justice

4. Prevent terrorists and regimes that seek chemical, biological, or nuclear weapons from threatening the United States and the world. (Is Saddam paying attention?)

5. Station troops in Afghanistan, the Philippines, Georgia, Yemen, and elsewhere, for as long as is necessary and only that long, to help to train those country’s armed forces to go after terrorist cells, and accomplish goals 1-3.
