My God!
Watching CNN at the gym I heard P Ireland vs megababe commentator Ann Coulter. Ireland contended to Coulter's vehement opposition that the husband bore some "moral" responsibility. I heartily agree. This insensitive, ignorant egotist took no concerted action to get his wife competent treatment. Instead he immersed her in a wacko religious cult that exacerbated her problems. Despite dire warnings he fostered yet another pregnancy on this disturbed woman. I have no sympathy for him as his actions led to the deaths of his 5 children.

Where I part company with NOW and the legions of whining (mostly female) TV commentators is that I hold Andrea Yates personally responsible. Anyone who deliberately kills their child is "insane" and that by definition robs the term of meaning. Remember, it was religious fundamentalists who because of their beliefs drove airplanes into the WTC. Do we give THEM a pass to mental health treatment because they too are obviously "insane", driven by their perverse religious beliefs to act as they did? Just as Yates' idiotic beliefs drove her to murder 5 babies one by one, to "save them from Satan".
