Excellent points along the way to being as concerned about the situation as the rest of us.
My only real concern is that Texas law only permits a capital murder charge in a case in which the defendant is as crazy as a bedbug.
It seems to me there is a qualitative difference between what she did and killing a clerk during a robbery, a murder-for-hire, or blowing away a brother-in-law while watching a NASCAR race.
I, for one, would vote for the death penalty had she been drunk and at fault in a car wreck which killed her kids. Drunk is no excuse.
We clearly can't intervene in any meaningful way before the act. However, we can be appropriate after. That doesn't mean turning her loose, by the way.
