What you say is all true. Nevertheless, I am constantly amazed at the poor, even just plain dumb, judgment by politicians of all descriptions.
The tit pics are sophmoric and should have been ignored. Covering the statue has created a story that can go on indefinitely.
Unnoticed in all this: The man who is characterized as sinister by much of the liberal press chose a prudish, ill-advised solution over the more obvious use of his power to quietly make the lives of his tormentors very difficult.
With Ashcroft, what you see is probably what you get. I prefer his prudishness to the Reno style.
