A erred entry for item one:
1 )The Kettle is boiling over...
That should work...
“Palestinians Say Sharon Has Declared War on Them,” reads the headline. I wonder what that means... Perhaps Arafat never heard that the “squeaky wheel” gets greased.
"The Israeli government, which practices state terrorism, has declared a comprehensive war and Sharon is intent on destroying the Palestinian Authority and the peace process," the Palestinians' chief negotiator, Saeb Erekat, told Reuters.
Funny, but too sad for words.
From your Item 2:
Arafat said he had discussed the situation with unspecified American envoys and demanded action. "Where are you? Don't you know that this will shake the Middle East?" he said.
Pretty sure we’ve been asking the same of him on this very board.
When Bush backed out of Middle East negotiations early last year, his message was clear. Israel and Palestine needed to work out their differences on their own. Israel’s reply to this was to tighten its grip on the occupied territories and strengthen defenses along her borders. Palestine's reply was to kill women, children, the elderly, soldiers, politicians -- whoever.
Gee, Arafat. Where were you then? Sitting quietly back on your Nobel laureate (awarded 1994 -- for his efforts to create peace in the Middle East!) haunches, condoning your people's activities? Peace in the Middle East must only occur when he’s asleep.
I'm very sorry Palestine is in the fix it is, but it's really way past time they found themselves an effective leader. This one has more than outstayed his welcome. If he were educated and working as a doctor of medicine, this man’s abilities could be summed up in one word. “Quack.”
