The idea of repression is a prerequisite for the priesthood -- if I recall correctly. The repression is a self-denial, which eventually collapses in a chaotic mess all around him.

Sexual repression, whether self inflicted or not, is unnatural. The result CAN BE a psychological imbalance. This is not always the case -- in fact it is seldom the case. We're better than this, and it's proven by the simple ability to carry on civilized relationships between the sexes without ending up in a sweaty pile on the floor.

I really think the issue is nothing more than what Andy stated. "Those rotten apples." They don't fill the barrel, but they do make you tend not to trust the other apples that are there.
