Does that mind help you in the world anymore? Do you make many leaps like that?
Let me try to put this in a way someone at The Home might be able to explain to you.
There are ways to track down criminals without creating 50 or 100 times as many victims as you are trying to avenge. Shooting 5, 10, or 15 innocent people, looting their homes and levelling the ones you don't loot, on your way to apprehending a murderer probably isn't civilized and may be a bigger injustice than the one someone is trying to right. One should try to not do more damage than they correct. Make sense?
To be self-righteous one should first be righteous.
Here's another aspect. There are ways to track down criminals which don't use tanks, helicopters, night rocket attacks, looting, denying people medical aid, and destroying homes. The Germans in WWII perfected the technique of levelling a village which resisted their regime. The Israelis have learned well, and that doesn't make it right. The Germans rounded up everyone, too, thinking they might have a murderer.
So, repeating, don't kill innocent civilians on you way to tracking down a murderer. Don't loot their homes, etc.
And again, actions such as nighttime rocket attacks on residential areas by helicopter are useful for terrorizing civilians. Not for finding murderers. After a short while 100, or 200, or 1000 wrongs do not make a right. Makes THE right happy, but doesn't correct or avenge an injustice.
Hope this helps.
