For a guy who is usually darned reasonable, takes a longer view, and calm, you seem to miss it on this one.
No one, no entity, not you, not me, not the US, no Israel, not the Palestinians, are all good, or all bad.
Affairs of people or State don't occur in a vacuum. You don't have "good" countries with people who are suicide bombers, you don't have "good" countries invading and killing their neighbors because just because they don't like 'em. When everyone is wrong, no one is right, and in this matter there's enough wrong to stink up the entire region.
I could shoot a member of a Latino family living nearby because some other Latinos wronged me. I might have a fear these folks might, too. After all, they are both Latinos. BLAM!! Hell, there's two of 'em. BLAM, again.
If I did that I'd be in jail, and you'd be saying I deserved to be there. But if it's Israel, what the hell, they're only Palestinians. The Palestinians asked for it. It's only 34 new settlements since Sharon came into office, it's not like it's a hundred, or 500.
Seems to be an uncharacteristic prejudice. Both for, and against.
