Re: Dynamiting housing

<"Any destruction by the Occupying Power of real or personal property belonging individually or collectively to private persons, or to the State, or to other public authorities, or to social or cooperative organizations, is prohibited, except where such destruction is rendered absolutely necessary by military operations".

Oh, wow. Is there ANY nation in history, including the U.S., that has paid attention to THAT one?

I agree that using "eminent domain" as an example of what the Israelis are doing is stretching it a bit, but knocking down someone's house is still not on the same depraved moral plane as blowing up unsuspecting people.

That said, my personal opinion is that someone blowing up an uninhabited building to make a political point is, indeed, a terrorist (ules. The student radicals in the early '70s who blew up uninhabited (or otherwise) buildings were terrorists, although at the time I seemed to be one of the few on campus who thought so.

I think the Israelis need to find a more workable and effective way to punish terrorists. Knocking down their homes looks a bit silly to me, like Linus kicking Lucy's house in frustration. There is a lot to be said for the old-fashioned assassination technique, which leaves homes and relatives alone.
