Would you buy this car?

<I think economic systems are like car engines. There are different types, with different characteristics, and they are all operated by people.

If the folks operating a certain type keep running that type into the wall, it doesn't mean the engine is ALL bad.

Not the best analogy, but I'll run with it. From a pure logic standpoint, you may be right about the engine (in 1,000 trials with the car hitting the wall, it is of course logically possible that the 1,001st trial will succeed), but if many different kinds of people from many different cultures, backgrounds, and educational levels kept running this car into a wall, every last time, at some point in your analysis you've really got to start considering the possibility that maybe there's something wrong with the car.

Communism has been tried in many nations, with many different people, cultures, resources, histories, and other factors. No change in outcome: totalitarian dictatorship and economic collapse, often accompanied by mass murder of its own citizens.

Time to stop buying this lemon.
