I think we'll be digging deep into the money-folks here, forcing an accounting for every dime, and hopefully using an outside agency with carte blanche access to all financial files. Sidgemore should have no issues with this, as none of the findings will likely reflect upon him.
I spoke with Bernie Ebbers once, years ago, and walked away from the event feeling secure in that this was definitely a money-man and working for the company. Well, the money-man part was accurate... Looking back on it, I recall a kind of slimy feeling with the encounter, but I put that off as being a "money"-thing. Then again, I've chatted freely with the CEO of Huntington Banks when I was the HQ security team's detail commander, and he was a pretty pleasant sort of guy.
I spoke with John Sidgmore once, also years ago, and got the impression he was a genuine people-person, and working for the company. Well, so far he can schmooze with the best of them, and these slash-n-burn tactics going on with the work-force shakes the people-person image, but cuts do need to be made.
We'll see,
Dan
