Re: The way to see it

It is NOT (I repeat: NOT) because Europeans criticize the US that we have forgotten the past and what the US has done.
Euroepean taxpayers still pay for their military; the French just welcomed the Charles De Gaulle aircraft carrier after its first 7 months long mission. The Dutch are participating in the development of a new fighter jet, etc....
Don't we have the right to an opinion , even on an official level?
Apparently not, obviously!
Isn't that what democracies are about?
Haven't you noticed the difference in the geopolitical US perception between the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's and now?
While we are thriving, evolving under international agreements (as we know very well there are issues that transcend our borders) the US is seemingly rejecting them one after the other, with as many reasons as there are agreements.
The end of the Cold War has provoked an uprise in nationalism in all the former Eastern bloc countries; it seems to subside ; but it has left one country above all the others, all powerful; so powerful that it feels it can deal with all international issues on its own, ignoring the others.
I remember that after WW2, 2 countries became economical superpowers: those countries were the two WW2 losers; they were not allowed to use their army for lots of purposes, yet they thrived, economically.
Frankly, I'd rather have a strong economy (even if it does spread the wealth) than a strong army.
After all, we get what we give and "Do not do unto others what you would not want others to do unto you".
After all, we all need the resources that exist all over the world; even those we could consider our enemies need to export their resources. As they see us as potential clients, why would they wage war unto us?
