An impromptu discourse - open your laptops and take notes ;-)

A strong economy is only secure on this world with a strong army to protect it.

History is full of examples of strong economies falling under the sword of the uncivilized (or civilized) invader.

Many intellectual leftists, such as Arthur Koestler, in 1943 declared with disdain, "The coming victory will be a conservative victory and lead to a conservative peace....this war reveals itself to be what the Tories always said it was - a war for national survival, a war in defense of certain conservative 19th century ideals and not what I and my friends on the left said that it was - a revolutionary civil war in Europe on the Spanish pattern....one of the main curses Hitler has brought on us is that by trying to unify Europe in the wrong way, he has brought forth such a recrudescence of nationalistic, chauvinistic feeling that the clock of European evolution has been put back for at least 50 years....this world is not the final cataclysm, not the ultimate showdown, between the forces of darkness and light, but perhaps only the beginning of a new series of convulsions spread over a much larger period of history than we originally thought, until the new world is born."

Sadly todays left has far degenerated from the likes even of Koestler. While he was idealistic and naive enough to envision a unified europe and envied Hitler's goal - he at least understood there were such things as darkness and light. The modern leftist has degenerated into such a utopian reprobate that he has no use for good or evil - only collectivist self-concern.

Which was what the conservatives predicted fifty years ago. Socialism is a political philosophy akin to AIDS - it wastes away the moral fiber of the society that succumbs to it in the same manner as AIDS wastes away the anatomy. It is perhaps fitting that AIDS has become the scourge of the "global village - as it is a "SOCIAL" disease.

The US still understands that good and evil are factors in the world - and much of the world IS evil.

The modern leftists has discounted all morality as obsolete. As such we watch europe slowly succumbs to socialist experimentism.

All of Larry's points were quite valid. Europe has perhaps been spared the natural conflicts of racial and political tensions and maturity - due to the imposition of the Marshall plan.

So what will happen in europe is a new civil war. The socialists will react to the neo-nazis, "rightists, far-rightists and ultra-far-rightists" with an equal reactionary disdain that will slowly make them mimic the soviet communist regime.

Brussels will be Moscow - and the european nations will be the member states joined in self-interest yet disparate in every other way of consequence.

So we will find that Europe will very likely be the future site of the convulsions Koestler predicted in 1943. As Europe slides into the abyss - the US will become more abhorrent to it. It's present disdain for the US and its leadership mimcs the same dislike held for the US by Iran, Libya and most other African nations for the past forty years.

(Which is not surprising since much of these regions' peoples and descendants are now "europeans")

Hot meals and cold meals blended are luke-warm mush.

Globalism by its nature FORCES lower standards, morals and government on all because it compromises. Europe is proud of its compromises - but compromising is the road to degeneracy.

No one who is truly developed ever compromises there understanding and knowledge of what is right. To do so is moral and spiritual suicide.

A nation or "union" which lives on compromise eventually reaches a level very close to the lowest common denominator.

Europe wishes to compromise with the middle east, they wisht the US were more like them and seeking endless treaties and pacts and arbitration.

However, history is a wise teacher and tells us that all treaties are ALWAYS broken eventually - so the treaty is simply a time-waster.

The strong army makes the rules - the strongest army enforces their belief system on the rest. The US forces freedom on Afghanistan women, whereas the Saudi religious police force women to burn to death - rather than let men see their faces.

Which is superior? The European leftist believes a compromise can be reached - the US view is that eventually freedom will prevail - and no compromise is possible or an intelligent course of action.

That (in very many words) is the problem with the EU and the modern leftist. The compromises which have helped them avoid conflicts - are merely delaying the inevitable and yes, desirable conflicts. In the meanwhile, they live in a world of compromises which will shatter as soon as the US would fall.

Yes if the US ever falls - europe will disintegrate into its petty prejudices, racial hatred and age-old animosities.

The US is the uncompromising saviour of the world - and the unintelligent parts of the world hate us because of it.
