So am I. When I see things like this,
Don't we have the right to an opinion , even on an official level?
Apparently not, obviously!
it frankly pisses me off. How dare I disagree with your opinion! You're effectively stating that my disagreement is the same thing as saying you aren't entitled to an opinion, therefore I'm not entitled to disagree. WRONG!
It's time for Europeans to grow up and fully pay their own way in the world. Until they do, they're little more than spoiled children in my eyes.
Sure, you're paying for some of your defense. However, you're no where near paying the full cost of it. The US continues to subsidize your defense to the tune of tens of billions every year. Quite frankly, I'm tired of it. If you want it, pay for it.
If you don't want to pay the full cost, then why should we pay for it? We can pull our estimated 80,000 troops out of Europe and force you to make a choice - either decide they aren't needed and do nothing or increase your own military to make up the slack. You can then live with the consequences of your decision, come what may.
The fundamental weakness of the European militaries was dramatically shown just a few years ago in the Balkans. There were terrible things going on for years. "Surely, someone must do something!" Not a damned thing happened until the US finally decided to get involved.
Why couldn't Europeans handle their own mess in their own backyard? Are you really that weak or that spineless that you can't take care of yourselves without having to run crying to Uncle Sam to clean up your messes, all the while looking down your noses at us because we've decided to remain powerful?
Europe's history, including recent history, shows me that your air of arrogance is hardly warranted. Time to grow up, kiddies. The piggy bank is closed.

Of course you're entitled to your opinion. Guess what?
