A solid majority of our politicians are lawyers. Even many of those who aren't receive bribes..er..campaign contributions.. from organizations like the Trial Lawyers Association, so they aren't going to implement any form of tort reform if they can help it. We give lip service to being a nation "of the people, by the people, and for the people." but the reality is closer to being of, by, and for the lawyers.

This isn't just me bashing lawyers. My daughter-in-law, a young woman that my wife and I respect and love dearly, is a lawyer for Mailboxes, Etc. She sees the system as being broken, perhaps beyond repair.
