<It took you only four sentences to go astray, and your entire rant is built upon this error, that Gar Smith IS the environmental movement.
Not an error. Truth. Gar Smith is the one that attends the conferences, is quoted by the media, and carries the banner of environmentalism in the eyes of the general public. And if it isn't Smith, its the leadership of Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth, Earth First, PETA, and others that are philosophically indistinguishable from Smith. On the other hand, the article I posted above is the first one I have ever seen anywhere outside the conservative/libertarian journals that even acknowleged Moore's existence other than to spit in his eye.
It is possible, perhaps even likely, that the environmental movement has been infiltrated by agents provocateurs and others who would pervert the movement or otherwise get it more in step with industry.
Not sure what you mean by this. Smith is a plant, or Moore? And the presumption that industry is an enemy of mankind is the root of the problem.
At any rate, in the final analysis, there is a germ of truth at the core of Smith's argument: too much rapid modernization may not always be in the best long-term interests of primitive cultures, and it may not be in the best long-term interests of the planet.
Fine. You fly a jet over to these people with their swollen bellies and flies in their eyes and tell them that they have to die for the planet. Let me know how it goes over.
