There may be hope for the environmental movement if "Moore" rational folks like that were around.
The anti-electricity, bike rider car-haters have their right to abstain from such conveniences.
Quotes like "three planets to exploit" quote are part of the fake statistic problem Fortune magazine exposed way back in the November 1961 issue! ("We're Drowning in Phony Statistics" by Daniel Seligman - A must read if you can get your hands on a library microfiche copy or a real issue. I tried to find it on the web but I just can't find it. Yes, the web does have limitations!)
Most folks are rational and shrug off the BS if they paid it any attention in the first place, unfortunately for us all - some folks are not as discerning and jump on the righteous sounding bandwagons in some psychological quest to make up for past indiscretions.
As such, to thwart their anti-societal rants is to stifle them and give them no outlet for their guilts. That is why they become even more rabid - because they need this release, obviously much more than most folks.
