"Let's see...if the purpose is to free Iraq from Saddam"
That's supposed to be the idea, but the Iraqis don't seem that unhappy with Saddam. The only ones clamoring for his removal are those on the Western dole.
"and put a pro US democratic governement in Iraq,"
The Iraqis have had a lot of years of sanctions and bombing. Not conducive to developing a "pro-US" population. From all indications the Iraqis have responded to those the way the US has WTC. Just as the US is not exactly enamored with al-Qaeda, the Iraqis don't appear to be enamored with the US.
"then the last thing to hope is for oil to go down in cost.
Bush gains from any increase in cost of oil (remember before Jeffords left the Republican Party GWB was saying there was "no end in sight" to energy prices? No refinery capacity, "designer gas" was only one culprit. Then the Ds could investigate, and those prices came down faster than the stock market has.)
Nope. GWB wants to control that production, AND have the price up.
As far as increasing production, the world price and supply of oil is in a very delicate balance. They wouldn't increase Iraqi production much, but you can bet the cost of production would skyrocket!
This is as much about democracy for Iraq as it was for Kuwait. And I remember GHWB looking right into the camera, much as did Bill Clinton a few years later, only GHWB said, "This isn't about oil, it's about restoring democracy to Kuwait."
Heh, heh.
Nope, Raoul, you've hit it. Hypocrisy to the core, and innocent Americans, Brits and Iraqis could easily die just to satisfy Daddy Bush's hatred and and to pay the vig for Junior Bush.
