Note that the company recalled the meat voluntarily, which apparently pisses off the regulatory storm troopers who thought that they should have waited until they had been forced to do so, and had been looking forward to getting to wear their nice new jackboots.

The socialist assumption is, of course, that meat companies are simply falling all over themselves for a chance to kill off their customers and send the remainder fleeing to competitors, so we had better forget any sort of voluntary compliance and lean on these capitalist bastards until they squeal. The fact that billions of pounds of meat were sold last year that were just fine under current rules means nothing of course.

As usual, the issue is not consumer safety--or the Left wouldn't be blocking solutions like irradiation--but government power.
