My original post was another shot at the hypocrisy of the Democrats and their media buttmonkeys. Had Republicans passed over a qualified Republican black candidate to select a white guy, WHATEVER the rational reason (like name recognition), they would have been raked over the coals on every front page in America as stone racists, never mind the campaign hay that would have been made by the Democratic Party.
As usual, the Democrats get their Get Out of Hot Water Free card from the press.
Heck, if it wasn't for the Internet, no one would have even heard about this. Alan Page's name appears in the mainstream press--other than Robert Novak's column--solely in the following statement:
...Other names being suggested as possible replacements on the ballot include Mondale's son, Ted, an unsuccessful gubernatorial candidate; Skip Humphrey, former state attorney general and son of former Vice President Hubert Humphrey; state Supreme Court Justice Alan Page, a former pro football star; and state Attorney General Mike Hatch.
I may have misunderstood Tony's response to mean that Republicans don't have any qualified black candidates.
