The cold deep ocean will tend to solidify the oil, and it will be thoroughly digested by the biology down there. The oil that has already been leaked out needs to be dealt with, but it isn't the end-of-the-world disaster the environmentalists are going to enthusiastically paint it as.
The Gulf of Mexico dumps about 4 million gallons of oil a year into itself from natural oil leaks, and the Gulf is still there.
