Re: $50K vs. $1.5M campaign???

Oh, get real. Do you really think the actual flaws had NOTHING to do with the loss? Maybe you overlooked in your calculations the loads of free support the proposition got from the press, the national media, or those who endorsed it.

..."When you are talking about $12 billion in additional taxes, $7 billion coming from employers payroll taxes and $5 billion from increased personal income tax rates, that's a heck of an obstacle to have to overcome," said Wilson.

...The measure came to a vote after Oregon's dependence on income taxes was strained by recession and the highest unemployment rate in the nation, forcing deep cuts in schools, prisons, and police.

...Opponents hammered on people's fears about raising taxes, government ineptitude, and people moving to Oregon to take advantage of free health care.

"Hammered on people's fears?" These were REAL PROBLEMS with the proposal, particularly the taxes and the people who would flood Oregon for the free health care. The over-18 population of Oregon is about 2.6 million. Even assuming every single adult in the state is a taxpayer, that is an average of almost $2,000 a year in new taxes.

If you just listen to them, leftists never lose elections on the ideas. NEVER.
