Regime changes?
Is it our BUSINESS to enact them?
Good questions, with no ideal answers. At some point, some form of organized world police force seems to be the answer. A lawless frontier NEEDED gunslingers. Unfortunately, the United Nations, which was ideally supposed to serve this function, would be like hiring the local Mafioso as police chief. Expecting the U.S. to do this on its own is not only more burden than we need, it is a road to Empire, which is also not good in the long run.
I'm just talking off the top of my head,* but it may be time to form a new U.N.-type organization, with slightly tighter requirements for membership. Being a civilized nation might be a good start. As a cautionary note, there should be more to being a permanent member of the U.N. Security Council than simply being large and having nuclear weapons. IMO, Switzerland deserves a spot there more than China does.
*Yeah, yeah I know. "What else is new?"
